Genre: ShooterResident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii marks the latest in a string of efforts to use the heavily atmospheric settings and gruesome undead abominations from Capcom's number-one survival horror franchise for the purposes of a point-and-shoot action game. It's also the most successful, due to a number of factors, including a more intuitive control scheme and more authentic locations.
It's also the most successful, due to a number of factors, including a more intuitive control scheme and more authentic locations. Umbrella Chronicles has the texture of a Resident Evil game, but it still basically handles like an arcade light-gun game. This means it's easy to pick up, but it's also got a fair share of tired genre conventions. Still, there are some exciting moments, and the Resident Evil minutiae it contains should thrill fans.
- The Good
• Controls are easy to pick up
• Introduces a few novel tweaks to on-rails shooter game play
• Captures the Resident Evil look and feel.
- The Bad
• On-rails shooter game play can still feel restrictive
• One-shot kills can feel random
• Music undermines the atmosphere.
I'm uploading this because the PAL version isn't available. Even though most people can play the NTSC version on a PAL system like I did, it can create problems. For instance when I exited the HBC, the Disc wouldn't show up on the Disc Channel with my particular set-up (for more on that, read the NFO)
The original untouched ISO was converted to WBFS with Wii Back-Up manager 0.3.4 The Update Partition was removed. Full Scrubbing Mode was not enabled. You can easily use Back-Up manager to convert this WBFS file into an ISO (again) if you're using an older pre-2010 Wii with a Wiikey or similar where you load physical DVD-R back-ups. The WBFS files are IDEAL for USB loaders OR a Wode Jokebox
